About the Job:

We are seeking a Part-Time General Maintenance Engineer to install, monitor, and maintain electrical equipment, as well as assist with general repairs and preventative maintenance across the hotel. This includes plumbing, heating, air conditioning, painting, wallpapering, carpentry, and other general repairs.

• Reports To: Maintenance Manager
• Department: Maintenance

The starting wage for this position is CA$22.50 during probation, increasing to CA$28.13 after probation, and further to CA$28.88 after six months.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of general maintenance experience in a hotel or related industry.
• Post-secondary technical degree or related industry certification.
• Advantageous to have a 4th Class or higher Operating Engineers License.
• Effective communication skills with guests, employees, and management.
• Strong organizational, computer, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Daily Tasks:

• Repair electrical equipment in the kitchen, including cleaning, repairing, and replacing parts.
• Repair appliances such as fan motors, heating units, and dishwashers; repair or replace electrical equipment in guest rooms.
• Assist other trades with installation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Install new electrical equipment, including light bulbs around the hotel.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment like air vents, pumps, and fan motors.
• Manage worksheet/HotSOS device collection and return each shift, and handle master keys responsibly.
• Report malfunctions, maintain tools and equipment for safety, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Perform drywall fitting, plaster crack repairs, hole filling, and painting in various hotel areas.
• Repair tile work, replace flooring as needed, and touch up furniture and woodwork.
• Build furniture such as partitions and shelves.
• Maintain all hotel equipment in good condition, perform heavy lifting, and climb ladders or stairs into confined spaces.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
