Job summary

NOV in Brooks, AB is seeking an Inspection Trainee to assist Operators in inspecting and repairing used tubular goods, handling pipe, and ensuring quality workmanship in a safety‑conscious shop environment.

Responsibilities include unit calibration, pipe threading inspection, and basic maintenance while following company policies and participating in training programs for skill development and career progression.

Qualifications

  • Partial high school education with ability to read, write and speak English to perform job duties.
  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing is required.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
  • First Aid and H2S Alive training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Operators in the use of Wellhead Isolog, Wellchek, and Classifax Sonoscope Isolog units.
  • Thread inspection and Magnetic Particle Inspection.
  • Cleaning and repair of pipe threads.
  • Drifting and sorting of tubulars.
  • Removal and application of thread compounds.
  • Coupling removal and replacement.
  • Equipment setup and tear down.
  • Unit calibration and basic unit maintenance.
  • General housekeeping and shop cleanup.
  • Follow all company policies and health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in training programs as required by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Operators in the utilization of Wellhead Isolog, Wellchek, and Classifax Sonoscope Isolog units.
  • Thread inspection
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection
  • Cleaning and repair of pipe threads
  • Drifting and sorting of tubulars
  • Removal and application of thread compounds
  • Coupling removal and replacement
  • Equipment set up and tear down
  • Unit calibration
  • Basic unit maintenance
  • General housekeeping and shop cleanup
  • Responsible to follow all applicable company and corporate policies, guiding principles, procedures and programs; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Participate in training programs as required by the company
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
