GFL Environmental Services is seeking a General Labourer to manage the daily operations of waste receiving and processing. This role includes operating equipment, ensuring safety practices, and maintaining a detail-oriented approach while working outdoors. Candidates should have a valid driver's license, be safety conscious, and ready to work flexible shifts.
The general labourer is responsible for day-to-day operations with respect to waste receiving handling processing and disposal.

Key Responsibilities :
Receive all client waste both bulk liquids / solids and containerized.
Take samples from waste vehicles and containers for lab analysis.
Load and unload waste vehicles including vacuum trucks tankers straight trucks and van trailers.
Operate plant machinery and assist with general maintenance.
Assisting in waste treatment and wastewater treatment methods and processes.
Assist with preparing shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for transport.
Gain a full understanding and working knowledge of the companys standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure they are followed.
Notify the Shift Supervisor / General Manager of any defects damages mistakes errors contamination spills other incidents or accidents that are identified.
Comply with rules procedures safe work and hygiene practices health and safety standards and use of personal protective equipment.
Previous hazardous and non-hazardous waste management experience is an asset.
Previous experience operating air diaphragm pumps and bulk liquid transfer systems is an asset.
Propane forklift experience / certification is an asset.
Must be safety conscious and detail oriented.
Must be comfortable working in a mostly outdoor environment.
Loading and Unloading box trucks and trailers (lifting 45 lbs above waste and manipulating heavier drums onto skids)
Shredding Paint Cans Containers of Adhesives and other containers of non-hazardous solids or sludges
Cleaning and prepping emptied drums for reuse using a pressure washer
Valid G License with a good driver abstract.
May-Mid November the candidate will be required to rotate between the following 2 schedules :
Week AMon Tues Saturday Sunday (8 : 15am-8 : 45pm)
Rotations will end in November. Candidates will then enter a Monday-Friday schedule to work the following shift :
Overnight shift (12am-8 : 30am) -
