Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Labourer to join our multifamily construction team in Ontario. Under the direction of the Site Superintendent, the General Labourer will perform a variety of Division 1 tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the construction site. This role involves manual labour, site maintenance, and support for various trades to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Preparation and Cleanup: Clear debris, sweep, and maintain a tidy worksite to ensure safety and accessibility. Remove and dispose of waste materials in compliance with site protocols and local regulations.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to designated areas as directed by the Site Superintendent.
- Temporary Facilities Support: Assist in setting up and maintaining temporary facilities, such as site fencing, signage, erosion control measures, and portable toilets.
- General Assistance to Trades: Provide support to carpenters, masons, and other trades by carrying materials, holding fixtures, or performing basic tasks under supervision.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and report hazards or incidents to the Site Superintendent.
- Equipment and Tool Maintenance: Clean and organize tools, equipment, and storage areas. Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to the Site Superintendent.
- Site Security: Assist with securing the site during non-working hours, including checking perimeter fencing and ensuring materials are stored safely.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Site Superintendent to support project progress and Division 1 requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in construction or general labour preferred but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Certifications: Valid Working at Heights certification and WHMIS training are assets. Must be willing to complete required safety training.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the job site are preferred.
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, to meet project deadlines.
- Compliance: Must comply with Ontario’s health and safety regulations and company policies.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed outdoors and indoors on active construction sites, with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
- Requires wearing PPE, including hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, and gloves.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with the Site Superintendent and other trades.
