Job description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the General Labourer position involves restoration activities including demolition, cleaning, emergency flood service, restorative drying, fire and smoke damage cleaning and deodorization, content cleaning, pack out and storage, and other specialized cleaning both on site and in the warehouse.

Job Duties

1. Perform activities including light repairs, demolition, and general cleaning as needed.
2. Ensure work is completed according to measurements, specifications, drawings, plans, or other production materials/instructions.
3. Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may affect completion of the job to the appropriate person.
4. Perform Water/Flood and Contents duties as required.
5. Participate as directed in activities such as vehicle safety and maintenance inspections, maintaining vehicles in clean, serviceable condition, constructing polyethylene enclosures, removing and disposing of debris, and maintaining equipment.
6. Practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and clutter-free worksite.
7. Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
8. Ensure attention to detail and safeguard other people’s property and information.
9. Participate in safety practices and follow all safety policies and procedures, including safe operation of machines and equipment.
10. Comply with all Belfor policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
11. This role may require acting as a "lead" periodically as designated by the manager.
12. Attend all Belfor-sponsored training courses.

Qualifications

1. Construction, Restoration, or Insurance experience preferred.
2. Forklift certification considered an asset.
3. Understanding of customer service principles and practices.
4. Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor’s vehicle policy.
5. Ability to work within a team or independently as needed.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
8. Basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience.
9. Willing to work evenings, on-call, and weekends when requested.
10. Periodic travel may be required.

Physical Demands

1. Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs unassisted (35-65% of the time).
2. Occasional lifting over 41 lbs, assisted (up to 50% of the time).
3. Access and mobility in tight spaces.
4. Fit testing for half and full face masks as needed, annual certification required.
5. Working at heights over 5 feet periodically.
6. Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
