Job description

Major Responsibilities

• Ensures safe and efficient operation of cranes and processing equipment
• Ensures the processing equipment is operating to specifications
• Performs daily inspection on lifting equipment prior to start up
• Enters required information into the AS400 per control plan
• Ensures all necessary reports have been completed
• Identifies packaged material per sales order requirements
• Ensures non-conforming product is brought forth to the Production Supervisor for disposition
• Generates and applies finish good tags to packaged product
• Updates inventory material locations (RTS)
• Maintains good housekeeping in the work area
• Take part and initiate continuous improvement efforts
• Trains new employees as required
• Other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor

Quality System Requirements (Authority & Responsibility)

• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process and quality system
• Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system
• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels

Tools & Equipment

• Deslagging and grinding equipment, measuring equipment, hand tools / banding equipment, computer equipment (RF scanner / AS400), lift trucks and packaging area cranes
• Material & Products - Not limited to ferrous and non-ferrous product in form of sheet, plate, strip, extrusions and long product
