Job summary

Argus is seeking a general labourer to join the Nisku team. You will work in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preparing OCTG for threading and completing final steps to meet customer and licensor requirements.

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, you will operate site tools, read work instructions, and ensure accurate documentation of all tasks. You will follow WHMIS standards for hazardous chemicals, measure to close tolerances, and contribute to continuous improvement while lifting up to

Qualifications

• Machine shop experience preferred.
• Ability to use measuring equipment.
• Knowledge of oil and gas products and services.
• Understanding of safe work practices, QA and Lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Operate tools and equipment to handle and prepare OCTG within the plant.
• Follow production orders and complete documentation for work carried out.
• Measure casing lengths and OD/ID to close tolerances using scales.
• Provide general shop and yard labour as required.
• Identify process improvements and assist with implementation.
• Keep work area and equipment clean and maintained.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

About The Opportunity

We are hiring a general labourer to work in our Nisku team. Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the employee is responsible for the preparation of OCTG for threading, and completing final processes to ensure the customer and threading licensors’ requirements are met. Casing sizes range from 2 3/8” to 16%.

You will be working in a high-volume, fast-production environment, where you'll gain experience with the full threading process from preparation to completion.

Responsibilities

• Operate tools and equipment to handle and prepare the OCTG within the manufacturing plant, including horizontal/ vertical saws, MRE swage units, coil induction stress relievers, phosphate application tanks, coupling torque machines, overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, sand blast cabinets, Techno stamping machines, and various hand tools.
• Appropriate application and handling of hazardous chemicals as required by WHIMIS standards, including: paint, thread compounds, zinc and manganese phosphate.
• Follow Argus Standard Operating Procedures.
• Read and carry out work instructions detailed on Production Orders. Complete documentation for work carried out.
• Measure casing lengths and OD/ ID dimensions to close tolerances, using metric and imperial scales. Use math skills to convert measurement scales and determine average measurements.
• Provide general shop and yard labour as required.
• Identification of process improvements that will benefit workflow and assistance with implementation of approved improvements.
• Clean and maintain the work area and equipment used daily.
• Other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Position Qualifications And Experience

• Machine shop experience is an asset.
• Ability to use measuring equipment.
• General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
• General understanding of safe work practices, Quality Assurance requirements, and Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles.

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

• Shop floor environment: extended standing and working with products.
• Team environment where constant and accurate communication is required.
• Working wearing personal protective equipment 100% of work time.
• Lifting regularly up to 50 lbs without mechanical assistance.
