Job summary

Dexterra Group in Mississauga is seeking a General Helper/Kitchen Cold Production for a seasonal role tied to the school year.

You will assist in kitchen prep, assemble sandwiches and salads, clean and sanitize equipment, wash dishes, maintain storage areas, and keep logs up to date.

Requirements include 1 year of kitchen or catering experience, fluent English, valid Food Safety and Allergen Safe Certificates, physical stamina, and full availability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year kitchen or catering experience in food service or hospitality environments.
• Fluent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have valid Food Safety Certificate and Allergen Safe Certificate to start.

Responsibilities

• General kitchen prep: wash produce, cut vegetables and proteins, assemble sandwiches and salads.
• Wash, scrub, clean, and sanitize designated kitchen areas and equipment.
• Wash dishes and assist with ware washing; deep cleaning of dish machines and ovens as needed.
• Maintain storage rooms and refrigeration areas, keep logs and records up to date.

Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

The General Helper/Kitchen Cold Production is responsible for assisting in the kitchen operations for our cold commissary, assembling sandwiches, salads, snack cups, general kitchen production, etc. as well as maintenance as well as cleaning and sanitizing of designated kitchen areas, tools, equipment, pots, and dishes. Note this is a seasonal position which coincides with the operation of the school year.

Your work will include:

• General kitchen prep - washing produce, cutting vegetables, cutting protein, assembling of sandwiches and salads. cutting fruit, making snack cups.
• Wash, scrub, clean, and sanitize designated kitchen and all aspects within the kitchen
• Clean refrigerators, ovens, and other kitchen equipment
• Assist with ware washing
• Deep cleaning on a daily/weekly basis of the dish machine, ovens, etc.
• Help keep storage rooms and fridges/freezers cleaned and organized
• Maintaining Records and Logs
• Maintain Garbage room, sort according to waste streams

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• You have a minimum 1 year kitchen or catering experience in Food Service Industry, hospitality environment or remote lodge setting
• You are fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Require valid Food Safety Certificate and Allergen Safe Certificate to start
• Physically capable; physical demanding job, fast moving
• Able to lift, carry, push up to 25lbs and for long periods of time
• Full availability required
