General Foreman – Civil

Salary: £40k - £50k
Location: West London
Regions: Middlesex, Surrey, Sussex

A regional Civil Contractor is seeking a General Foreman to work on a range of multi-discipline projects across the West London area. They are looking for a well-organized, hardworking, and experienced individual within Civil Engineering to join their team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Managing safety on site, including giving inductions, effective Tool Box Talks, Daily Task Briefings, and Point of Work assessments to Site Operatives.
• Allocating duties to Site Operatives.
• Supervising Site Operatives and site activities to ensure tasks are carried out within their levels of skill and expertise.
• Organizing and requisitioning Site Equipment/Plant and Materials to ensure completion of works.
• Coordinating with Line Managers on managing work methods that are technically sound, safe, economically viable, feasible, and consistent, and advising them of any items that may impact/change the contract programme.
• Maintaining daily records of site activities and liaising with Line Managers to produce information for progress reports.
• Monitoring the attendance of Site Operatives and checking the daily allocation sheets for accuracy and correct reporting of additional instructed work.
• Implementing the requirements of work safety plans, method statements, risk assessments, and other work procedures ensuring compliance with relevant documentation.
• Ensuring all site operatives are wearing appropriate PPE at all times during site activities.
• Ensuring all site operatives are trained to use any plant and equipment and that they are using it safely and for its correct purpose at all times.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of the setup and day-to-day running of a construction site.
• NVQ 1/2.
• Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card – Supervisor – Gold, Experienced Supervisor, or Manager.
