What do you offer?

The Extended Day Program Site Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Director of the child care centre with the operations of the Extended Day Program (EDP) for children aged 4-12. The EDP Site Supervisor focuses on the quality experiences for children that focus on the Y’s core values: excellence, compassion, dignity, accountability and inclusion. The EDP Site Supervisor gives leadership and supervision to YMCA staff and volunteers in the Extended Day Program and is accountable for the quality and compliance of program delivery, ensuring adherence to the mission, vision and values of the Y, curriculum standards, and legislative requirements.

Some Of The Tasks Of This Position Include

  • Implementing a safe, accessibility, quality, child-centered program in relation to YMCA values, ECE principles and best practices, and community needs.
  • Ensuring program plans and centre environments address each child’s identified needs, stage of development, and interests.
  • Providing leadership and supervision to EDP staff and volunteers.
  • Providing feedback on quality standards and program delivery.
  • Communicating to parents about their child’s developmental progress, and supporting other staff in doing so.
  • Giving leadership to, and working with, centre staff to maintain a well-organized, accessible, safe and clean child care facility.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following

Education

  • ECE diploma or CECE recognized equivalency is an asset

Language

  • Fluent in English, oral and written

Experience, Skills And Abilities

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children
  • Minimum 1-2 years of leadership experience
  • Sound knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Experience working with diverse populations

Additional Requirements

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
