Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a General Duty Mammography Technologist for the Portage District General Hospital campus. The role is a full-time, in-person position with 1.00 FTE, performing breast imaging and supporting radiologists in breast procedures.

The successful candidate will hold a Medical Radiologic Technology Program credential, a CAMRT registration, and a Mammography Certificate.

Qualifications

  • One year clinic imaging experience required.
  • CAMRT registration must be current.
  • Strong breast imaging knowledge and patient care focus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality breast imaging and mammography exams.
  • Assist radiologists with breast procedures as needed.
  • Communicate significant patient information to the team promptly.
  • Track pathology and mammogram report correlations for Radiologist review.
  • Review daily schedules to ensure diagnostic imaging availability.
  • Participate in ongoing breast imaging education and provincial services.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Experience
  • One year working experience in a clinic environment and demonstrated ability to consistently produce high-quality mammograms.
  • Experience using RIS/PACS or equivalent radiology information system.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Mammography Certificate Course 1 and 2 (equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience may be considered).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of the emotional and psychosocial needs of women and men and ability to apply the knowledge toward alleviating the trauma of undergoing medical imaging procedures for the patient and family.
  • Knowledge of computer systems i.e.MS Office Programs, Outlook, word processing, electronic patient record and e-mail applications.
  • Provides high quality breast imaging, mammography exams.
  • Assists radiologists in the performance of breast procedures as required.
  • Communicates all significant patient information to members of the team in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates and tracks the correlation of pathology and mammogram reports by the Radiologist.
  • Reviews clinic schedules daily to ensure all diagnostic imaging are available for patient assessment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Must have effective organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines and demonstrate professional judgment and initiative; contributes to a positive work environment to foster an atmosphere of respect and caring.
  • Ability work independently and take initiative, multi-task in a busy clinical environment.
  • Ability to function and adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Attends and actively participates in staff and program meetings.
  • Participates in ongoing education, workshops, conferences and provincial breast imaging services as they relate to program delivery.

Physical Requirements
  • Demonstrated reliability to committed shifts and a willingness to accept additional shift work as required.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
