Job summary

Albarrie Canada Limited is seeking a General Accountant for its manufacturing operations in Barrie, Ontario. The role reports to the Director of Finance and covers a broad range of accounting tasks including monthly closings, reconciliations, and reporting to support financial decision making.

The successful candidate will reconcile GLs, manage inter-company transactions, oversee payroll-related entries, and contribute to audits while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance.
  • 5+ years of plant accounting experience.
  • Experience with intercompany transactions.
  • Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks, ERP systems and Excel.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and reconcile GLs, bank accounts and inter-company transactions monthly.
  • Reconcile invoices/credit notes; adjust misapplied deposits and write-offs.
  • Calculate and file WSIB and taxes for specific provinces.
  • Manage amortization prepayments and post year-end adjustments.
  • Review payroll records and reconcile to GL; prepare journal entries.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and ERP templates; manage GL processes.
  • Prepare service job listings, payroll and expenses; investigate discrepancies.
  • Support month-end and year-end close; coordinate with Finance Director.

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for a variety of accounting, analyzing and administering financial activities. The position summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statement and other reports. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documentation.

This role has been created to cover a current vacancy within the team.

  • Prepare, review and reconcile GL's, bank accounts and inter-company transactions on a monthly basis. Investigate and action any discrepancies, as required.
  • Reconciliation of invoice/credit notes including; write off uncollectible amounts, minor overpayments, correct misapplied deposits and adjust currently errors.
  • Responsible of calculation and filing of WSIB and tax filing for specific provinces.
  • Responsible for amortization prepayment schedules, to ensure they are update, finalized and post adjustments after year end audit and review.
  • Review payroll records, reconcile to GL and prepare journal entries as required.
  • Manage and coordinate the GL account management process; maintain the chart of accounts, pseudo codes, transaction reason codes and update templates in the ERP system.
  • Prepare service job listing, payroll and expenses and investigate discrepancies for reporting purposes.
  • Participate and direct financial audits, but internal and external.
  • Prepare error free financial reports as requested and present results to stakeholders.
  • Support and coordinate month end and year end close process.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to document business processes and accounting policies.
  • Act as pack up to AR/APR, as required.
