MAINTENANCE MANAGER

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Vice President, this role oversees maintenance programs for both of Albarrie’s facilities. The Maintenance Manager will lead the strategic planning and execution of maintenance operations to ensure optimal performance, reliability and safety of all equipment, facilities and systems, while being able to be mechanically inclined and work on machinery. The role requires a proactive approach to asset management, cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for creating long‑term maintenance programs and plans that are aligned with business objectives, focusing on reliability, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Design and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance schedules using data analytics to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Prepare annual maintenance budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings through process improvements and vendor negotiations. Perform monthly budget reviews with accounting team.
  • Drove adoption of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and other digital tools to enhance reporting, scheduling and performance tracking.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with suppliers and contractors, negotiate service agreements, and evaluate performance to ensure quality and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Lead initiatives to improve maintenance processes, reduce downtime, and enhance energy efficiency through Lean principles and engineering technologies.
  • Build a high‑performing maintenance team through training, mentorship, and succession planning. Foster a culture of accountability, safety and continuous learning.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and procurement teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules and organizational priorities.
  • Working with the Project Managers, provide input into plans around strategic business plans for capital expenditures and analysis, to present to ownership and the CFO.
  • Participate in manufacturing capital expenditure purchases including reviewing in full terms and conditions and making notes for legal review, negotiations, and working with the project management team, ensuring all documentation is together for presentation to ownership. Working with inside and outside legal counsel to ensure best practices and foresight are considered and ensure they are employed before and during capital planning and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with R&D on managing and overseeing production trials and providing business cases as to whether it is a strategic endeavour from a machinery and maintenance perspective.
  • Oversee daily maintenance, including review of all production logs, ensuring alignment with business goals and key performance indicators (KPI's).
  • Participate and work with the maintenance team on the manufacturing floor completing repairs, to learn and understand our unique machinery.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of a Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred; will consider 10+ years experience in a maintenance leadership role.
  • 10 + years hands‑on maintenance experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
  • Strategic experience in building and driving maintenance programs and cost savings.
  • Budgeting analysis and capital expenditure planning.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement project management experience.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, ERP/MRP.
