Achēv is hiring a Gender-Based Violence Counsellor for the Stronger Together project in Mississauga. The role is full-time, hybrid with two days in office, reporting to the Manager, Career & Newcomer Services. Start date Dec 14, 2026; contract until March 31, 2027.

Formación

• University degree in Social Work or related field required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in gender-based violence in non-profit or community health.
• Registration with regulatory body such as CSW/SW or CRPO Ontario required.
• Fluency in French is an asset.
• Experience with intake procedures, case management, and crisis intervention.

Responsabilidades

• Complete intakes for individuals facing or at risk of GBV.
• Provide GBV counselling in English; French is a strong asset if bilingual.
• Carry a caseload of women, women-identifying, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals; provide individual counselling.
• Use trauma-informed approaches; provide short-term, solution-focused counselling.
• Respond to crises; assess safety risks and develop safety plans.
• Maintain confidential records and compile statistics for reports.
• Provide monthly update reports to Manager.
• Offer information on resources and referrals and advocate as needed.
• Liaise with community agencies/services; contribute to education and training on GBV issues.
• Support program resources development with a trauma-informed lens.
• Assist with program review and evaluation using various tools.
