The Financial Accounting Standards Board sponsors a postgraduate technical assistant program for individuals planning a career with an emphasis in accounting. The program is a one-year term, during which individuals become highly involved with the accounting standards-setting process and gain an in-depth understanding of the roles played by preparers, auditors, and users of financial information.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Technical Research and Analysis:
   • Assist with major agenda projects, practice and implementation issues, and post-implementation reviews, participating in all project phases, including analyzing submissions, reviewing research, preparing memorandums, drafting due process documents, and evaluating proposals.
   • Attend and participate in public and private meetings relevant to their projects.
   • Maintain and update project libraries in SharePoint, ensuring accessibility and metadata accuracy.
   • Log interactions with constituents for analysis and future reference.
2. Planning and Completion of Work:
   • Complete assigned tasks within deadlines and notify supervisors of delays.
   • Follow project management policies and procedures.
3. Communications:
   • Participate in meetings and assist in drafting Board materials.
   • Update project communications as per guidelines.
   • Conduct basic research for Technical Inquiries.
   • Engage with academic audiences about the program.
4. Other Accountabilities:
   • Provide feedback on candidates and assist HR with scheduling interviews.
   • Support administrative tasks as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience:

1. Project Management: Ability to meet deadlines.
2. Technical Knowledge and Analytical Skills:
   • Nomination by a school accounting department member.
   • Recent graduate or about to graduate with a master's in accounting or double major.
   • Outstanding academic record and coursework in accounting theory and practice.
   • Strong interest in accounting theory, critical thinking, and creativity.
   • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
   • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant software.
3. Personal Characteristics:
   • Ability to work in teams, manage time effectively, and demonstrate maturity and motivation.
   • Leadership qualities and career interest in Financial Reporting preferred.
4. Job-Related Experience: Prior internships in accounting, assurance, or auditing are preferred.
