Job summary

Nch'ḵay̓ is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for Squamish Valley Gas Bar to lead daily store operations, supervise staff, and maintain high standards of customer service. The role requires overseeing cash handling, inventory, and compliance while supporting the Store Manager and ensuring a welcoming experience for customers and community members.

The position demands open availability, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, and is based on site in Squamish.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of closely related experience in retail, customer service, or a supervisory role.
• Experience in a First Nations community environment is preferred.
• Proven ability to supervise and support staff, with leadership when the Store Manager is absent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and workplace safety regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day store operations and supervise staff on the floor.
• Open and close the store with security procedures.
• Sell gas, cigarettes, and convenience items and process payments.
• Operate POS and credit card terminals; ensure accurate cash handling.
• Ensure health, safety, and sanitation standards are met each shift.
• Maintain clean, well-organized customer areas and displays.
