Job summary

IGG Canada, a premium mobile game and video production studio in Vancouver, is hiring a Game Designer for the 3D SLG team. The role reports to the Lead Game Designer and offers a full-time, on-site position at 988 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC.

Candidates should have at least 1 year in the game industry, preferably with SLG/mobile live-service experience. Proficiency with Unity, Microsoft Office, and AI-enabled design workflows is highly valued, along with strong communication and organizational

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of internship or professional experience in the game industry.
  • Experience in mobile SLG games is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with live-service mobile games is an asset.
  • Passion for mobile games with strong understanding of gameplay mechanics and progression systems.
  • Actively play mobile games and analyze game systems and features.
  • Familiarity with the Unity game engine (reviewing/testing builds; no programming).
  • Experience using AI tools to support game design, documentation, research, and workflow speed is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gameplay feature design for engaging mechanics under the Lead Designer.
  • Ensure player experience through game systems, progression, and balance.
  • Prepare gameplay and system documents and related art resource needs.
  • Coordinate projects across art and programming teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Conduct product testing, identify issues, and address deficiencies.
  • Utilize AI tools to accelerate design workflows and generate references.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by the team.

Salary Range

$60,000 – $90,000 annually, negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience

Responsibilities
  • Gameplay Feature Design: Design engaging gameplay features that enhance player enjoyment and retention, under the direction of the Lead Designer.
  • Player Experience: Ensure game mechanics, level progression, and in-game systems deliver a rewarding and immersive experience.
  • Documentation: Prepare gameplay and system function documents, along with related art resource requirements, ensuring the final in-game functionality meets expectations.
  • Project Coordination: Drive system projects to completion, liaising with art and programming teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Testing & Acceptance: Conduct product testing for assigned projects, regularly inspect the game for issues, and address any deficiencies.
  • AI-Assisted Workflow: Utilize AI tools to support game design workflows by creating effective prompts, generating design references, exploring gameplay concepts, drafting documentation, and accelerating iteration.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the team.
Requirements
  • Experience:
    • At least 1 year of internship or professional experience in the game industry.
    • Experience in mobile game system design is strongly preferred, particularly for SLG mobile games.
    • Experience with live-service mobile games or ongoing game operations is an asset.
  • Game Knowledge:
    • Passion for mobile games with a strong understanding of gameplay mechanics, player experience, and progression systems.
    • Actively play mobile games and demonstrates the ability to analyze game systems and features.
    • Experience playing SLG titles such as Kingshot, Whiteout Survival, Landsof Jail or similar gamesis considered an asset.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
    • Familiarity with the Unity game engine for reviewing and testing game builds (no programming required).
  • AI Tools:
    • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar AI tools to support game design, documentation, research, reference generation, and workflow efficiency is preferred.
  • Professional Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without current or future employer sponsorship.
