Job summary

IGG Canada is seeking a skilled 3D Character Artist to join our Vancouver team on-site. You will create high- and low-poly character and hard-surface models for a cutting-edge mobile game, collaborating with the 3D Lead and the art team to translate concept art into game-ready assets.

Proficiency in Zbrush, Maya or 3ds Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop is required; Unity or Unreal experience is a strong plus.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Zbrush, Maya or Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
  • Portfolio with character work in realistic style must be included.
  • Able to work independently and in a team in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create low and high-poly character and hard-surface models from pre-existing art designs.
  • Apply hand-painted PBR textures and ensure strong color composition.
  • Iterate on sketches and collaborate with other art subdivisions to improve quality.
  • Multitask related elements; experience with AI tools is a plus; Unity/Unreal a bonus.

Position: 3D Character Artist
Game Project: Join our talented team to work on a cutting-edge 3D simulation mobile game!
Report to: 3D Lead
Hiring Level: intermediate
Start Date: ASAP
Location: 8th floor - 988 West Broadway, Vancouver (fully on-site)
Employment Terms
  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience:Initial 3-month contract
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience:Initial 1-year contract
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience:Permanent position

Job Responsibilities
  • Able to create low & high-quality models (character and hard surface) with limited polygons in short time period base on the pre-existing art designs;
  • Need to be proficient in the application of hand-painted PBR, understand the logic of card rendering, and have a good sense of color compositions and overall aesthetics.
  • Communicate with other art-related subdivisions, improving the overall character quality.
  • Able to iterate on sketches (eg. adding more detail)
  • Able to multitask many related elements
  • Work exp. with AI tools is a plus.
  • Exp. with Unity is a big plus.
Requirements
  • Fluent in Zbrush, Maya or Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
  • Portfolio displaying a variety of professional and personal pieces in different art styles (realistic style is a must), and must include character work.
  • Versatile, flexible, and willing to do what's needed in a fast-moving environment.
  • Can work well both independently and closely with other artists.
  • Able to adopt fast-past work environment
  • Good verbal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada - we are unable to sponsor work permits for candidates applying for this position.
  • Previous experience with the development and shipment of AAA titles is a bonus.
  • Experience working and placing assets into a game engine (Unreal, Unity) is a plus.
