Job summary

Nokia in Ottawa is seeking an Early Career Firmware Engineer to join an agile Scrum team developing firmware for next-generation optical network equipment. You will write firmware for highly embedded CPUs within Nokia ASICs, enabling cutting-edge hardware.

You will collaborate on feature definition, coding and testing, and mentor interns and co-ops while gaining hands-on experience in DSP, digital signal processing, and control theory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with C and C++ (C/C++) and Python.
• Experience in DSP, Control Theory, Optical networks or embedded CPUs.
• Intern or co‑op experience at Nokia or Infinera.
• Agile development with feature acceptance criteria and testing.

You’ll be writing firmware that runs on highly embedded CPUs within custom Nokia ASICs, directly enabling industry‑leading optical hardware.

Key Skills And Experience

• Previous intern or co-op experience at Nokia or Infinera.

• One or more areas of experience: Digital signal processing knowledge, Control Theory, Optical networks, Optical components, embedded cpu.
• Agile development, including defining feature acceptance criteria, feature and unit testing.
