Job summary

Nokia Ottawa is seeking a firmware engineer to join our Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing optical engine team. You will design, implement, and test embedded software for long‑haul and metro transport products, collaborating with hardware, FPGA, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust solutions.

You will contribute to requirements, design docs, debugging, testing, and process improvements, with emphasis on C/C++, Linux/RTOS drivers, and cross‑functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4+ years of embedded software development in a multithreaded real-time environment.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with device driver development for Linux or Real‑Time Operating Systems.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test firmware for next‑generation Optical Engine used in Long Haul, Metro, and Data Center Interconnects.
• Develop and maintain Firmware Requirement and Design documents.
• Collaborate with optical, hardware, FPGA, software, manufacturing, and test teams to support seamless integration.
• Debug and resolve customer issues effectively.
• Contribute to testing documentation to ensure product quality and compliance.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input.
• Identify and suggest improvements to firmware development processes and methodologies.
