Here at Human Appeal, we have an exciting opportunity for a Fundraising Officer to join our team. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary in the range of $46,750 - $55,000 and benefits.
Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs, and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.
As the Fundraising Officer, you will identify, plan, and manage a range of regional fundraising campaigns and meet annual income targets by ensuring regional fundraising activities are undertaken at agreed levels of return on investment. You will explore new innovative fundraising opportunities, as well as more traditional events, exhibitions, conferences, and dinners. All efforts are aimed at building awareness of Human Appeal projects and donor relationships, increasing income generation and donations year on year, and contributing towards the fundraising strategy and growth for our beneficiaries.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Undertake regular regional fundraising activities via innovative and traditional opportunities.
- Meet annual income targets.
- Increase donor interaction, acquisition, social media engagement, and online donations post-events.
- Achieve donation income growth and donor growth (Year-Over-Year) with satisfactory return on investment, in line with the fundraising strategy.
- Deliver Quality Assurance in line with Health & Safety, customer satisfaction, complaints management, and Fundraising Regulators code of conduct.
- Promote and adhere to the fundraising code of conduct and best practices to safeguard HA, maintain high professional standards, and uphold HA's public image.
- Develop, nurture, and maintain relationships with current and potential donors, charity partners, organizations, and businesses via networking and creating a regular presence within respected regions.
- Establish clear communication channels with local organizations, negotiate agreements, generate leads, manage events, and liaise with the Head Office Fundraising Department to improve efficiency and maximize potential.
- Manage engaging fundraising projects like dinners, concerts, speaker tours, and conferences to raise income and maintain public interest.
- Manage and nurture a network of regional volunteers, collaborating with the Volunteers Coordinator, hosting recruitment events, and providing training and materials.
- Support FR colleagues during peak periods and contribute to regional and national meetings.
- Identify, develop, and manage new regional fundraising opportunities and emergency campaigns by adopting a strategic and timely approach.
- Maintain internal procedures such as donor management systems, account management, and cash protocols.
- Secure and file income logs, ensure cash is handled securely, and maintain audit trails.
- Assist in developing and delivering HA’s regional fundraising plan.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, including Health & Safety, Data Protection, and Equal Opportunities.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in internal and external training opportunities.
- If required, manage a team within fundraising, supporting in-house staff during events.
- Oversee budgets and expenditure, monitor income, report on variances, and aim to exceed income targets.
- Perform other duties aligned with the FR strategy as directed by the Head of FR.
Requirements:
- Minimum college or university education.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record in project and event management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media, and donor management systems.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, or Punjabi is advantageous.
