Director of Marketing and Communications
Position Overview:
The Fundraising Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation by supporting major gift solicitations, planned giving programs, and grant opportunities as part of the organization’s fundraising team. This role is ideal for a dynamic, driven individual who enjoys building meaningful relationships and creating a fostering a culture of philanthropy within an organization. The Fundraising Coordinator will oversee a small portfolio of major donors, coordinate grant opportunities and planned giving programs, and provide administrative support for the fundraising department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the major gift pipeline by managing a portfolio of major donor prospects through the donor pipeline from identification to solicitation and beyond, with regular donor stewardship.
- Coordinate grant applications for a portfolio of funding opportunities to support revenue generation
- Collaborate with the Major Gift and Planned Giving Team to support the Foundation’s planned giving program by coordinating incoming gifts, as well as the program’s annual event and other general administration related to planned giving.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with new and existing Foundation donors
- Track, monitor, and report on key performance indicators and pipeline moves management by utilizing the Foundation’s donor database, Raisers Edge NXT.
- Develop and implement strategies to meet annual fundraising targets
Communications & Donor Engagement
- Work closely with the Major Gifts and Annual Giving teams to ensure the Foundation is stewarding donors in thoughtful and innovative ways.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to promote giving opportunities and recognize donors through digital, print, and social channels.
- Ensure timely and thoughtful donor stewardship including thank-you letters, impact reports, and personalized touchpoints.
- Contribute to storytelling efforts that highlight the impact of community giving on hospital care and innovation.
Other Duties
- Execute the Foundation’s quarterly “Spirit Cart” – an engagement opportunity between the Foundation and hospital staff.
- Assisting with special projects and events, sometimes needed on evenings or weekends.
- Use safe work practices at all times and reporting building, equipment problems etc. to manager on a timely basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Communications, Non-profit Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in a fundraising, or donor relations (preferably in a non-profit or healthcare setting).
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed fundraising goals through strategic outreach and donor cultivation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT or similar CRM is an asset
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs occasionally.
- Local travel required for events and meetings.
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and maintenance of the same is also a condition of employment.

Reports To: Manager of Major Gifts and Planned Giving
Employment Type: Full-time contract (15 months with possible extension)
Expected Salary Range: $56,000 - $62,000
