Job summary

Canada Life in Winnipeg is seeking a permanent full-time professional to support the Investment Operations team. You will assist in the calculation of Daily Net Asset Valuation for segregated funds and general account portfolios, perform trade execution, and reconcile cash and custody positions.

The role requires accounting/finance education, proficiency with Word and Excel, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Accounting/Finance is required.
• Professional designation in progress is an asset.
• Canadian Securities Course is an asset.
• Experience with segregated funds, mutual funds and securities/investments is an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Attention to detail is essential.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work independently and manage fluctuating volumes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

The Investment Operations team is responsible for all accounting and valuations for the Canada Life Assurance Company segregated funds and general account assets.

What you will do:

• Responsible for performing tasks in support of the calculation of Daily Net Asset Valuation of Segregated Funds and General Account Portfolios
• Trade execution and administration (calculation of trade amount and execution of daily trades based on cash flows
• Daily reconciliation of cash and custody positions
• Daily problem solving and issue resolution with custodians, investment managers, internal and external stakeholders
• Assist management in streamlining and documenting processes
• Daily pricing of segregated funds and/or general accounts
• Perform ad hoc projects
• Other general or department wide tasks as assigned

What you will bring:

• Completion of post secondary education, specializing in Accounting/Finance, such as Business Administration or B. Comm.
• Working towards a professional accounting designation would be considered an asset
• Completion of the Canadian Securities Course would be considered an asset
• Experience with segregated funds, mutual funds and securities/investments would be considered an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Well demonstrated attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills, with the ability to deal with fluctuating work volumes

The base salary for this position is between $50,900.00 - $76,400.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
