Job summary

The University of Calgary’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Tier II CIHR Canada Research Chair in Functional Tissue Biomechanics. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) and will hold joint appointments across UCVM, CSM and the McCaig Institute.

Qualifications

• The candidate holds a PhD in biomechanics or a closely related field and demonstrates a strong record of impactful research.
• Evidence of ability to secure external funding and publish high-quality work is expected.
• Experience across veterinary medicine, engineering, and medical disciplines is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead an externally funded, transdisciplinary research program.
• Collaborate across UCVM, CSM, Schulich, and McCaig Institute with a One Health focus.
• Engage in undergraduate, DVM and graduate teaching and supervision.
• Contribute to service activities and program development within UCVM.
