Job summary

Northern Gateway School Division seeks a capable Sr. High teacher to deliver English and Social Studies to senior students in Whitecourt with a focus on student engagement and achievement.

You will monitor progress, adapt teaching methods, and collaborate with counselors, staff, and administration to support the School Advancement Plan and CTM process.

Qualifications

• Must hold Alberta Teaching Certificate.
• Experience teaching Junior/Senior High.
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
• Student-centered instructional approach across subjects.

Responsibilities

• Teaching Sr. High English and Social Studies

The successful candidate must:

• have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and support staff
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
• have successful Junior/Senior High school teaching experience
• have effective organizational and classroom management skills
• have classroom practice that is focused on:
• a student-centered approach to responsive instruction that ensures student engagement and understanding, and nurtures teacher-student relationships
• the application of a variety of technologies to support learning for all students
• assessment for/of learning that will support students in their areas of needed growth and achievement
• the domains of the NGPS Quality Learning Environment (QLE)
• collegial collaboration, numeracy programming, support and intervention
• strong and effective communication with parents and the community
• have school practice that is focused on:
• working with school administration to support the School Advancement Plan
• a commitment to student achievement and success through the Collaborative Team Meeting (CTM) process
