Responsibilities

The Supervising Lawyer will be responsible for training and supervising student clinicians, providing litigation support, and assisting with daily operations at the TRU CLC. Key duties include:

• Supervising student clinicians in legal assistance provision, including drafting documents and representing clients in court and tribunals where permitted.
• Supporting the clinic's daily operations, such as client intake, reviewing legal documents, supervising hearings, and developing resources for students.
• Collaborating with the clinic staff and leadership to ensure effective training and supervision.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• An LLB or JD from a Canadian or equivalent law school.
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia or another Canadian law society.
• At least three years of legal experience in relevant areas such as family, elder, tenancy, criminal, or poverty law.
• Experience in civil and possibly criminal litigation.
• Experience working or volunteering in a poverty law clinic or similar environment is preferred.

The salary for this role is $52,000 per annum.
