Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Full-time Security Guard for the Goodwill Windsor location in Windsor, Ontario. The role involves patrolling, crisis response, and maintaining a safe environment for staff and visitors at the McDougall St.

community store. Qualifications include an Ontario Security Guard License and post-secondary law enforcement education preferred; English proficiency and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Ontario Security Guard License is required.
• Post-Secondary education in law enforcement preferred.
• Physical demands include extensive walking and standing.
• Patrols on foot and by vehicle to ensure security of people and property.
• Communicate via radio and computer applications to report site activity.
• Report irregularities with incident reports to emergency responders as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Oversee donation-drop areas, monitor foot traffic, deter theft, and maintain a safe environment for staff, shoppers, and clients.
• Assist visitors and employees during crisis and contact emergency services as needed.
• Ensure security measures are functioning properly to keep the property safe.
• Conduct proactive patrols (exterior and interior) and address policy breaches.
• Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies promptly to avoid panic.
• De-escalate crises and liaise with police, fire, and paramedics as required.
• Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries.
• Provide first aid and medical response when required.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff and external clients and provide timely support.

Full-time Security Guard - Goodwill Windsor

Goodwill’s McDougall St. Community Store (1643 McDougall St.) is a busy thrift and donation centre offering clothing, books, housewares, and employment-support programs. Security guards oversee donation-drop areas, monitor foot traffic, deter theft, and maintain a safe environment for staff, shoppers, and clients accessing job-training services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist visitors, and employee during crisis and contact the necessary emergency services as needed
• Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly
• Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols (exterior and Interior), and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
• Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public
• Ability to de-escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including; police, fire and paramedic resources.
• Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
• Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person
• Maintain positive and constructive relationships with The Client’s staff and external clients by providing timely and accurate support as required.
• Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client

Job Requirements:

• Must possess Ontario Security Guard License.
• Post-Secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience is preferred
• Physical Demands include excessive walking and standing.
• Patrol area on foot and vehicle as assigned, to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
• Utilize radio and computer applications for communicating site activities.
• Watch for and report irregularities by completing incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess excellent computer skills.
• Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact, and diplomacy.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• First Aid and CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
