Buffalo Trail Public Schools is pleased to offer a full-time probationary teaching opportunity at Vermilion Elementary School in Vermilion, Alberta, for the 2025–2026 school year. This assignment includes teaching Grade 4–6 Music as well as serving as an elementary generalist. We are seeking a student-centered educator with a passion for music and a strong understanding of effective instructional practices in the elementary years. Specific Position Duties
- Deliver high-quality music instruction to students in Grades 4–6, supporting creativity, rhythm, performance, and musical appreciation
- Support general classroom instruction as an elementary generalist, with a focus on literacy and numeracy
- Apply differentiated instructional strategies to meet a range of student needs
- Experience working in multi-grade or split-grade classrooms is considered an asset
Qualifications And General Duties
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Experience working with Google Suite
- Shall be a dynamic student-centered educator committed to maximizing learning in a safe and caring environment
- Experience and/or training in the application of Assessment for Learning strategies, embedded formative assessment, and varied summative assessments is essential
- Possess a strong background in the use of technology to enhance student learning
- Ability to create a positive learning environment and foster positive professional relationships with students
- Is dependable with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to professional growth and continually increasing their effectiveness as an educator
- A willingness to participate in extracurricular activities would be considered an asset

We have a wide variety of extracurricular programs and noon hour clubs that our staff and students love to participate in. Our students at Vermilion Elementary School are supported by a VIBE (Vermilion Is Being Empowered) Coach, Social Emotional Coaches, and a therapy assistant who provides programming for students in the areas of Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. Vermilion Play Development (playschool, before and after school care and Kindercare) is also housed within the school.Our dedicated team is here to support families in whatever they need.
