Job summary

Qualifications

Position Overview

The full-time Social Worker, with a minimum Bachelor of Social Work or a related mental health discipline, provides professional, client-centered addiction counselling services that integrate evidence- based therapeutic approaches with the values of hope and belonging. The Social Worker supports individual, couples, families experiencing emotional, mental health, relational and life challenges related to addiction.

Expected Compensation

Gross salary will be $32.00 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week. All payments are subject to the required statutory employee deductions.

Key Responsibilities
  • To address client challenges through a process of assessment, treatment and evaluation using evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Respect and incorporate clients' individual values, beliefs, cultural backgrounds, and spiritual perspectives into counselling when requested by clients and appropriate to the therapeutic process.
  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Support clients experiencing mental health, relational and life challenges due to addiction and other related mental health concerns.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with community partners, clergy, and other professionals to coordinate client care when appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing counselling or therapy services in a community, clinical, or social service setting.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Social Work, or a related mental health discipline.
  • Current registration is in good standing with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g., Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or other appropriate therapeutic approaches.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diverse cultural, social, personal, and spiritual perspectives and their relevance to the counselling process.
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset (Mandarin/Cantonese).
Other Requirements
  • A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle and correspondent insurance.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of appropriate accreditation, professional references and a successful Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check.

  • Strong understanding of ethical practice and professional boundaries.
  • Commitment to compassionate, respectful and client centred care.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated cultural humility and trauma informed practice.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment.
  • Some travel may be required to satellite locations and meetings.
  • Some evening work may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
  • The incumbent in this position frequently communicates with internal and external stakeholders.
