CCSYR is seeking a part-time Counsellor to join the Counselling Team at our Main Office. The role delivers client-centered counselling integrating evidence-based approaches with Catholic values.

You will assess and support individuals, couples, and families facing emotional and mental health challenges, collaborating with community partners and clergy to provide holistic care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counselling psychology, or related mental health discipline.
  • Current registration in good standing with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g. Ontario College of Social Workers).
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing clinical counselling services in faith-based settings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or other appropriate approaches.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Catholic teachings, values and pastoral care principles.
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couple, family, and group counselling using evidence-based interventions grounded in Catholic values and principles where appropriate.
  • Integrate spirituality, and values into counselling based on client needs, preferences, and the therapeutic process.
  • Conduct client assessments and develop individualized treatment plans addressing mental health, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship and family concerns, stress, life transitions, and other mental health challenges.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with community partners, clergy, and other professionals to support coordinated and holistic client care.

We are recruiting for a part-time Counsellor within the CCSYR Counselling Team.

Position Title: Counsellor

Department: Counselling

Location: Main Office at 50 High Tech Road

Reports to: Clinical Manager

Position Overview

The part-time Counsellor, provides professional, client-centered counselling services that integrates evidence-based therapeutic approaches with the values of hope and belonging. The therapist supports individual, couples, families experiencing emotional, mental health, relational and life challenges. Services are delivered in accordance with professional standards, ethical guidelinescombining Catholic principles.

Expected Compensation

Gross salary will be $36.41 per hour based on 22.5 hours per week. All payments are subject to the required statutory employee deductions.

Key Responsibilities

Other Requirements
  • A valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and relevant insurance.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of appropriate accreditation, professional references and a successful Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated cultural humility and trauma informed practice.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment.
  • Some travel may be required to satellite locations and meetings.
  • Some evening work may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
  • The incumbent in this position frequently communicates with internal and external stakeholders.
