Job summary

William Osler Health System seeks full-time and part-time anaesthesiologists to support 25 operating rooms, 4 delivery suites, up to 8 endoscopy rooms, and pre-assessment clinics across Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and Peel Memorial Centre.

Successful candidates will participate in obstetric and general call schedules, contribute to regional anaesthesia services, and collaborate with a diverse team including anaesthesia assistants and nurse practitioners.

Qualifications

• Accredited medical degree required as a baseline credential.
• Fellowship in Anaesthesiology asset but not strictly required.
• Certificate of registration to practise from CPSO required.
• English language proficiency essential; additional languages assets.

Job description

William Osler Health System Department of Anaesthesia is seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Anaesthesiologiststo work across all three sites.

The Role

As an anaesthesiologist at Osler, you will provide services to a total of 25 ORs, 4 operative delivery suites, up to8 endoscopy rooms, pre-assessment clinics, and the Acute Pain Service across three sites – Brampton CivicHospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and Peel Memorial Centre. Future growth plans include expanding servicesboth in and out of the OR suites and advancing our role in chronic pain management. Successful candidateswould participate in the full range of anaesthesiology services both in and out of the OR and participate in theobstetric and general call schedules. The Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefitsand Fees.

The Anaesthesia Department

The Osler Anaesthesia Department works together with a diverse array of surgical specialties including a busyobstetric practice counting over 7000 annual deliveries, the highest in Ontario. Our surgical services include majorthoracic and vascular surgery, orthopaedics with a strong focus on ambulatory arthroplasties, general surgery,plastic surgery, gynaecology, urology, maxillofacial surgery/dentistry, and cardiac electrophysiology. We staff upto 8 endoscopy suites daily including advanced therapeutic endoscopy such as ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.Our pediatric practice encompasses ENT, dentistry and endoscopy. We have a very robust expertise in regionalanaesthesia among our staff, with good ultrasound and block room infrastructure. While existing proficiency inneuraxial, truncal, and extremity blocks is an asset, you will have ample opportunities to improve and expandyour regional anaesthesia skills at Osler.

Our department is supported by a multidisciplinary team which includes dedicated and skilled AnaesthesiaAssistants and Nurse Practitioners who work in the OR’s, block room, acute pain service, and pre-anaesthesiaclinic. May of our Anaesthesiologists have extensive experience and interest in clinic teaching at all levels.

Qualifications

• Accredited Medical Degree (or equivalent)
• Subspecialty fellowship training is an asset but not a requirement.
• Certificate of registration to practise from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have fellowship in Anaesthesiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
• American Board certified Anaesthesiologists eligible for registration via CPSO Pathway A
• Family Physicians with a certificate of added competence in Family Practice Anaesthesia from the College of Family Physicians of Canada may also be considered.
• License to practice and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• The position requires excellent communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population

• Sound critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Proven track record of attendance, punctuality, and accountability
