Job summary

Humber River Health's Department of Anesthesia is seeking 3-4 Anesthesiologists to join our group. Successful candidates will participate in a full scope of departmental activities, including clinical service, on-call coverage, and the education of medical learners.

Requests for part-time appointments may be considered later. Candidates must be FRCPC anesthesiologists and eligible for membership with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario.

Qualifications

  • FRCPC anesthesiologists; no mandatory fellowship, pediatric/ obstetrical training is a plus.
  • Must be a qualified medical practitioner and eligible for College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario membership.
  • Interest in education initiatives and teaching medical learners; faculty appointment may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical anesthesia services across multiple surgical areas.
  • Contribute to on-call coverage.
  • Educate and mentor medical learners and participate in teaching initiatives.

ANESTHESIOLOGISTS

Department and Program Overview

HRH's Department of Anesthesia is a diverse and vibrant group of over 40 anesthesiologists. It prides itself on fostering a supportive and collegial environment. Surgical service at HRH includes general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, oral maxillofacial, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pediatric, plastic surgery, urology, vascular surgery. HRH operates 20 operating rooms, 5 endoscopy rooms, a labour and delivery unit with 3 operating rooms as well as a 7-bay anesthesia block room. Call coverage consists of two anesthesiologists daily for OR and OB.

Position Summary

The Department of Anesthesia is seeking 3-4 Anesthesiologists to join our group. Successful candidates will participate in a full scope of departmental activities, including clinical service, on-call coverage, and the education of medical learners. Requests for part‑time appointments may be considered at the time of recruitment and can be accommodated in the future.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Candidates must be FRCPC anesthesiologists. No additional fellowship training is required, but additional training in pediatric or obstetrical anesthesia would be an asset as well as skills in quality improvement and excellence in teaching medical learners.

In addition to demonstrated clinical excellence and outstanding interpersonal skills, candidates must be a qualified medical practitioner and a member of, or eligible for membership, with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates must also have relevant certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

As a member of TAHSN, HRH provides placements for medical learners at all levels. The successful candidate will have a recognized interest in education initiatives, including the teaching, supervision and mentoring of medical learners. Applicants must have or be eligible for a faculty appointment in the appropriate clinical department at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
