Duties And Responsibilities

The incumbent works under the management of the Information Technology Officer and the Faculty of Science’s Manager, Administrative Services. As a Web/Multimedia/Mobile Developer, the incumbent provides web design, development, and support within the Faculty of Science. They also assist with frontline computer support, providing secondary support and escalation services to complement primary support from the team’s computing specialists.


Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of computer-based systems (hardware and software), including Windows, MacOS X, and Linux workstations, desktops, or laptops.
  • Familiarity with common software application packages and open-source software management.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, LAMP web development tools, and resource integration in heterogeneous environments.
  • Ability to program using scripting languages or shell scripting for system management and web development.
  • Experience with current web design, web development, and web application frameworks, including database-driven web applications and open source frameworks. Familiarity with mobile and software development frameworks is an asset.
  • Experience with graphics design, 2D & 3D graphics, photography, and video production is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies as they evolve.
  • Leadership in IT-related issues, with a focus on web, multimedia, and mobile, and a proactive approach to improving the Faculty’s web presence and infrastructure.
Education And Experience
  • Four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, or equivalent.
  • Courses in web design, development, programming, mobile applications, scripting, multimedia, graphics, and video production.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in support, web design, development, programming, mobile applications, and multimedia.
