Senior Software Developer – Full Stack (Hybrid | Toronto, ON)

Location : Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)

Contract Duration : 220 Business Days

Start Date : Immediate or ASAP

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Developer to join a long-term, enterprise-level digital modernization initiative. This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, offering the opportunity to contribute to public-facing applications that support high-impact service delivery.

Key Responsibilities :

• Build and consume RESTful web services for data integration and interoperability
• Translate detailed specifications into well-tested application components, services, and interfaces
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives) and contribute to effort estimation
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and participate in performance tuning
• Ensure accessibility compliance (AODA), code quality, and adherence to security and privacy standards
• Collaborate with QA to support unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution
• Document solutions and contribute to deployment planning, knowledge transfer, and system maintenance

Required Skills and Experience :

• Minimum 10 years of progressive software development experience
• Strong expertise in Java / JEE development, including EJB, JPA, and Spring Framework
• Advanced experience with AngularJS or NodeJS in production environments
• Solid understanding of RESTful API architecture and hands-on experience building and consuming APIs
• Experience working with IBM WebSphere Application Server (or Liberty)
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge (e.g., Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server)
• Experience developing enterprise-level applications in Agile / Scrum environments
• Familiarity with AODA standards and building accessible web applications
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Nice to Have :

• Experience with PDF generation tools, reporting (e.g., Jasper Reports), or business rules engines (e.g., IBM ODM)
• Familiarity with SOA, microservices, or event-driven architectures
• Experience working on government or large-scale public sector projects
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI / CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
