Job description

AiGC is seeking a Full Stack Developer to support the design, development, implementation, and ongoing evolution of the applications and technology systems that underpin Alberta's regulated iGaming market. Reporting to the Manager, Data Platforms, this position is responsible for end-to-end application development, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable applications that support AiGC's business, operational, and regulatory requirements. Initially focused on AiGC's anti-money laundering (AML) compliance platform, you will work across front-end and back-end development, database integration, system connectivity, and cloud infrastructure. You will also establish automated deployment processes, strengthen application monitoring and support practices, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery efficiency while maintaining strong security, quality, and change management controls.

Working collaboratively with teams across technology, compliance, risk, security, and business operations, you will translate complex requirements into practical technical solutions, support the reliability of production systems, and help establish the development standards and infrastructure practices needed to support AiGC's evolving technology environment.

Who You Are

You are a technically skilled and solutions-oriented developer with strong experience across the full application development lifecycle. You bring expertise in front-end and back-end development, cloud-based applications, system integration, and automated deployment practices. You understand the importance of building applications that are not only functional and scalable but also secure, reliable, maintainable, and supported by effective operational controls.

You thrive in an environment where innovation, accountability, and collaboration are essential. You are comfortable taking ownership of applications from initial concept through production support, navigating complex technical challenges, and translating business needs into practical, sustainable solutions. You approach emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development, with curiosity and sound judgment, balancing opportunities for efficiency with the need for security, quality, and oversight.

With a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement, you are motivated by the opportunity to build foundational technology capabilities and contribute to the long-term success of Alberta's evolving regulated iGaming market.

Key Responsibilities
Application Development and Delivery
  • Lead the full application development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing enhancements
  • Engineer applications for secure configuration and secrets handling, health checks, structured logging, graceful failure, and supportability
  • Translate business, compliance, security, and operational requirements into functional specifications and maintainable technical solutions, considering usability, performance, scalability, and security
  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations between internal applications, enterprise platforms, databases, and third-party systems
Release Control and Audit Evidence
  • Deliver production releases through controlled, gated cutover with validated configuration and proven rollback
  • Maintain pipeline records showing what changed, when, by whom, under what approval, and with what result
  • Support privacy, cybersecurity, audit, and regulatory readiness reviews through reliable engineering evidence
  • Support application performance monitoring, incident investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of production issues
AI-Assisted Development Practice
  • Use AI-assisted development deliberately with defined review, verification, privacy, security, and quality controls
  • Review machine-generated changes to the same standards as human-authored code
  • Help establish transferable practices that improve delivery throughput without increasing defects or incidents
  • Contribute to the development of consistent application development standards, documentation practices, and technical processes across AiGC
Operational Resilience and Knowledge Transfer
  • Create runbooks, observability, alerting, and escalation paths for production applications
  • Consolidate release and hotfix practices into documented, repeatable processes
  • Reduce single-person dependency by enabling other team members to deploy, diagnose, support, and roll back systems
Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD
  • Define application and platform infrastructure using Terraform and/or Bicep
  • Bring existing undocumented infrastructure under code and make environments rebuildable from source
  • Implement automated pipelines with build, test, approval, artifact, deployment, rollback, and drift-detection controls
Qualifications
Education
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting applications across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Progressive experience delivering, maintaining, and supporting production applications in cloud-based environments.
  • Experience developing full stack applications, including front-end and back-end development, database integration, APIs, and system connectivity.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and/or Bicep, and automated deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools with appropriate verification, privacy, security, and quality controls.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of front-end frameworks, back-end programming languages, APIs, databases, and application integration principles.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including identity and access management, networking fundamentals, application monitoring, operational support, and cloud cost management.
  • Proficiency in Git and source-control practices, including code review, change approvals, release management, and rollback procedures.
  • Understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), infrastructure automation, and secure application development practices.
  • Ability to design and maintain secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable applications that support business and operational requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify practical solutions.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts and requirements for diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound technical judgment, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
