Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is seeking a Supervisor to lead the FSQA team in Manitoba, ensuring the implementation of quality assurance and food safety programs across the facility.

You will guide HACCP specialists and QA coordinators, uphold internal and external standards, and drive continuous improvement in product safety and process control. The role requires a university degree or diploma in a related field, 3–5 years of GMP/HACCP experience, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant science field such as Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Science.
  • 3–5 years of food-related experience in GMP/HACCP.
  • Proven HACCP experience including program development, implementation and auditing.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise HACCP Specialists and QA staff; lead staffing, coaching, training and performance support.
  • Maintain and verify HACCP and prerequisite programs; ensure alignment with requirements.
  • Coordinate HACCP reassessments and updates; support audits (CFIA, customer, third-party).
  • Lead or support food safety investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support traceability, recalls and other food safety activities; analyze audit findings and drive improvements.

The Opportunity

As a key FSQA leader, the Supervisor ensures the facility’s Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs and protocols are effectively implemented. By leading in alignment with Maple Leaf Foods’ values, the Supervisor helps build and sustain a service-oriented team grounded in food safety.

Snapshot Of a Day-in-the-Life
  • Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to assigned HACCP Specialists, QA Coordinators, and other FSQA team members, including staffing, coaching, training, and performance support.
  • Maintain, update, verify, and support consistent execution of HACCP, prerequisite, food safety, and quality programs in alignment with internal and external requirements.
  • Coordinate annual HACCP and prerequisite program reassessments, including follow-up actions, document updates, and communication of changes.
  • Assist with regulatory (CFIA), customer, third-party (BRCGS), and internal audits, including preparation and coaching of cross-functional managers before and during audits.
  • Conduct GMP, internal, and other assigned audits with cross-functional teams and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or support food safety and quality investigations, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Support traceability exercises, recalls, and other food safety-related activities as required.
  • Analyze audit findings, GMP deficiencies, complaints, deviations, and corrective actions to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support FSQA training, SOP development, document control, and change management related to processes, programs, and systems.
  • Lead or participate in initiatives to improve product safety, quality, process control, and compliance.
  • Provide clear and timely FSQA communication to cross-functional departments and support other FSQA roles as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the FSQA department and facility objectives.
What You’ll Bring
  • University degree or college diploma preferably in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years food related experience in areas of GMP and HACCP principles and programs.
  • Must have in-depth HACCP experience including; program development; implementation of programs and auditing of the program.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and support team members.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer and systems skills, including MS Office.
  • Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.
