Job summary

The Bishop Strachan School in Toronto seeks a passionate French Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold an OCT certificate with French qualifications and will foster a dynamic, engaging learning environment for students.

Responsibilities include delivering French courses, planning and differentiating lessons, and participating in co-curricular activities while integrating technology and maintaining strong parent communication.

Qualifications

  • Must have an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate preferably with teaching qualifications in French.
  • Intermediate/Senior teaching qualifications.
  • Strong commitment to educational research in classroom practice.

  • Differentiate lesson plans based on students' needs.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated French Teacher to join our school. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the French language and a commitment to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment.

What You'll Do:
  • Teaches a full course load of French classes, subject and grade to be determined
  • Prepare lesson plans, outlines and assessments using inquiry and problem-based learning that engages students, challenges them, and meets the subject-specific outcomes and expectations
  • Have the ability to differentiate lesson plans based on the needs of your students
  • Participate in co-curricular activities including coaching, clubs, trips and participating in the school community as a whole
  • Make contributions that productively support the overall well-being and growth of students in the Senior School
  • Integrate technology in the classroom in ways that enhance the student learning experience and deepen knowledge and conceptual understanding
  • Communicate effectively with parents about all aspects of the overall program and the individual learning of each student
  • Integrate diversity, equity, inclusiveness and belonging into the classroom learning environment
Who You Are:
  • Must have an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate preferably with teaching qualifications in French
  • Intermediate/Senior teaching qualifications
  • A passion for aligning educational research with classroom practice
  • Strong proficiency in Google Suite; knowledge of Brightspace an asset
  • A growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning
  • Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness, as well as a readiness to accept and respect others
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment for your students, with families and your colleagues.

Annual compensation is based on our Faculty Grid, which factors in qualifications and up to 12 years of teaching experience:

Entry to 6 Years: $71 ,000 - $101 ,000
Over 6 Years: $102 ,000 - $138 ,000
