Role Description

This contract French Teacher role is a hybrid position based in Calgary, AB, with a mix of on-site teaching and work-from-home tasks. The French Teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons to adult learners preparing for immigration-related language exams and CLB benchmarks, both in small groups and one-on-one tutoring sessions. Daily responsibilities include creating and adapting course materials, assessing learner progress, providing constructive feedback, and using digital platforms and AI-supported tools to enhance learning outcomes. The teacher will participate in curriculum refinement, collaborate with other educators and the academic team, and may contribute to workshops or masterclasses. Some evening or weekend availability may be required to accommodate learners’ schedules.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in French Teaching and general Teaching, with the ability to support learners from beginner to advanced levels.
• Experience in Tutoring and Education, including individualized support and structured classroom or online instruction.
• Background in Teacher Training or mentoring other educators, or a demonstrated interest in developing pedagogical skills.
• Native or near-native proficiency in French, with clear, accurate pronunciation and excellent command of grammar.
• Relevant education in Languages, Education, Linguistics, or a related field; teaching certification or FSL qualification is an asset.
• Experience preparing students for standardized French exams (e.g., TEF, TCF) and familiarity with CLB levels is highly beneficial.
• Comfort using learning technologies, online teaching platforms, and digital resources to support hybrid instruction.
• Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to support learners under time pressure and high stakes.
