Job summary

Oxford Learning Montreal DDO is seeking a friendly, reliable part-time French teacher/tutor to help students move from Je ne sais pas to Oh la la. You will teach up to three students per class, in small groups, using our curriculum; no lesson planning required.

Sessions run after school and evenings (3:30 pm–8:00 pm) and Saturdays (9:00 am–1:00 pm); relocation is not offered. Vulnerable-sector screening is mandatory, and sessions are conducted in French.

Qualifications

  • Must possess strong spoken and written French and English.
  • Comfortable teaching up to Grade 11; sessions conducted in French.
  • In-person role; commute to the DDO location; vulnerable-sector screening mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to three students at a time in small groups, in French.
  • Teach online and in-person, following Oxford Learning methodologies.
  • Fill post-lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Job description

French Teacher / Tutor Wanted

Earn valuable teaching experience while helping students move from “Je ne sais pas” to “Oh la la.” Are you a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic French speaker? Join Oxford Learning Montreal DDO as a part‑time French teacher/tutor/coach and ignite your passion for helping students succeed—in French!

We teach students how to learn French and improve academic and study skills in small groups. Each class has a maximum of three students. We provide all curriculum and lessons; teachers do not need to lesson plan. Your role is to explain and guide students through the material and help them discuss their understanding.

Position Requirements

All Teacher‑Tutors work during after‑school and evening hours (3:30 pm–8:00 pm) and Saturdays (9:00 am–1:00 pm). Preference for a commitment until the end of the term in June and continuing through summer. Reliability is a must.

Must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English, comfortable teaching up to Grade 9, preferably up to Grade 11. Sessions are taught in French. The role is in‑person; you must be able to commute to the location. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable‑sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • CEGEP or Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9 to 11 French curriculum
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9–11 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities

Job Type & Compensation

Part‑time

Salary: $16.60–$17.50 per hour

  • Evenings (3:30 pm–8:00 pm)
