French Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Eager to help students turn “Je ne sais pas” into “Oh la la”? Motivated to support children’s French education outside of the classroom? Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience.

About the Role

Join the team at Oxford Learning Scarborough Bluffs as a part‑time French teacher/tutor/coach. We teach students how to learn French and improve their academic and study skills in a small‑group setting. Class sizes are a maximum of three to four students per teacher. We provide all curriculum and lessons; teachers do not need to lesson plan. Teachers explain and guide students through the material, helping them express their understanding.

Position Requirements

• After‑school and evening hours (4:00–8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00–1:00 pm). Commitment through the school year preferred; summer continuation is a plus.
• On‑site role; must be able to commute to Oxford Learning Scarborough Bluffs. Must complete vulnerable sector screening. No relocation package.
• Strong background in spoken and written French and English, comfortable teaching up to Grade 9 (preferred up to Grade 12). Must instruct class sessions in French.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar in a relevant field.
• Third or fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
• Teaching certification an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum.

Experience

• Some experience teaching or tutoring French at Grade 9‑12 level.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Strong French skills, ability to guide students’ understanding.
• Ability to multitask and manage three to four students simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to four students simultaneously at different levels.
• Teach in‑person (online not required).
• Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Complete post‑lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
• Maintain friendly and professional demeanor at all times.

Job Details

Job Type: Part‑time

Schedule:
Monday‑Thursday 4 pm to 7 pm, Saturday availability 10 am to 1 pm.
