Job summary

Canadian Tire is seeking a student in a post-secondary program to join our analytics team focused on fraud detection across the customer lifecycle. You’ll use payments, accounts, and behavioral data to build and refine detection strategies, while supporting investigations and cross-functional collaboration.

You will work with Python/SQL, visualization tools, and Excel, contributing to fraud prevention and learning from experienced colleagues in a dynamic retail/finance environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated superior analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Programming experience (e.g. Python/SAS/R/SQL).
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Data visualization development using Tableau or similar tooling is an asset.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to share knowledge.
• Highly organized with attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and customer-focused approach.
• Demonstrate transparency, accountability, agility and learning from others.

Responsibilities

• Use analytics and detection technology to prevent and contain fraud losses across the customer lifecycle.
• Leverage payment, account, and behavioral data to inform decisions.
• Develop and maintain fraud detection strategies across detection platforms.
• Assess fraud rates and false positives aligned with business goals.
• Identify emerging fraud trends and respond accordingly.
• Stay current on fraud tech and industry trends related to payments.
• Liaise with Fraud Operations and provide analytical support for investigations.
• Collaborate with key business units to improve outcomes.
