Job summary

Great Plains College is hiring an instructor for the Fourth-Class Power Engineering Program at Swift Current Campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing instructional programs to encourage students' academic development.

The ideal candidate should possess a Third Class Power Engineering Interprovincial Certificate, along with effective instructional abilities and interpersonal skills. This is a dynamic opportunity starting on August 24, 2026, with a contract lasting until April 28, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Two years of recent, on-the-job Third Class operating experience.
  • Instructional experience is essential.
  • Experience in refrigeration operations and possession of Refrigeration Engineer's Certificate is a plus.

Position Overview

Great Plains College is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic instructor for our Fourth-Class Power Engineering Program at the Swift Current Campus. The instructor reports to the Program Coordinator and will plan, organize, and implement an instructional program and learning environment that encourages learners to develop their academic potential.

Start Date: August 24, 2026

End Date: April 28, 2027

Student Contact Days: 77.00

Total Contract Days: 87.25

Responsibilities

The instructor will: Plan, organize, and implement instructional programs; Guide and encourage learners to reach their academic potential; and Report to the Program Coordinator.

Qualifications
  • Third Class Power Engineering Interprovincial Certificate.
  • Second Class Power Engineering Interprovincial Certificate (preferred).
  • Two years of recent, on-the-job Third Class operating experience.
  • Instructional experience.
  • Refrigeration Engineer's Certificate and experience in refrigeration operations.
  • Effective instructional ability.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the Internet, e‑mail, MS Office Suite, and ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
