Job summary

Texas A&M University-Victoria seeks a full-time, 12-month faculty member to serve as the Founding Director of the new BS in Aviation program and to promote and teach within the degree. The appointment may be tenure-track or as a Professor of Practice, with duties spanning curriculum, FAA compliance, and program development in Victoria, Texas.

The Founding Director will work with industry partners, supervise flight training operations, and lead recruitment while engaging in teaching face-to-face

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in aviation or equivalent required.
  • Industry experience in aviation/flight operations and management expected.
  • FAA instrument and single-engine/multi-engine ratings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct all aspects of the aviation program, including curriculum development, FAA regulatory compliance, flight operations, scheduling, and accreditation.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities and oversee all operations of the aviation degree program including the flight training contractor.
  • Teach courses within the aviation program, including ground school and other subjects, with face-to-face classes in Victoria, Texas.
  • Plan and conduct activities that raise the program's profile within the community and industry.
  • Lead student recruitment efforts and collaborate with Enrollment Management on materials.
  • Facilitate mentoring for aviation students and manage program budgets and resources.
