Job summary

Matrix Foster Care Services in Mississauga is seeking a Foster Parent to provide a safe, nurturing home for children who cannot live with their families. Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to foster children in Canada.
• Successful completion of a foster parent training program as required by provincial or territorial regulations.
• Ability to pass background checks, including criminal record and child abuse registry screenings.
• Demonstrated capacity to provide a safe and stable home environment.
• Basic knowledge of child development and trauma-informed care principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, stable, and caring home environment that meets the daily needs of foster children, including food, clothing, hygiene, and emotional support.
• Support the educational, medical, and developmental needs of foster children by coordinating appointments, attending school meetings, and encouraging positive growth.
• Maintain open and effective communication with child welfare agencies, social workers, biological families (when appropriate), and other stakeholders involved in the child's care.
• Document and report any changes in the child's behavior, health, or circumstances to the appropriate authorities promptly and accurately.
• Promote the child's cultural identity, personal interests, and social connections to foster a sense of belonging and self-esteem.
