Job summary

Masco Canada is seeking a Forming Operator to load, operate, and unload a vacuum forming machine at our St. Thomas, Ontario facility. You will work to produce consistent, high‑quality shells while adhering to safety and 5S standards.

The role requires the ability to follow instructions, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods, with teamwork and English comprehension essential for daily operations and shift rotations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Load, operate, and unload the vacuum forming machine to produce quality shells.
  • Ensure machine parameters and setup meet company standards; communicate across shifts.
  • Perform daily maintenance and dry run of the machine as required.
  • Complete forming process including demolding and positioning of parts.
  • Support quality, 5S, and safety requirements; escalate issues to Lead Hand or Supervisor.

Forming Operator (St Thomas, ON – Onsite)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

A Forming Operator is responsible for loading, operating, and unloading the vacuum forming machine. The Operator is responsible for producing consistent, high‑quality shells by inspecting each product.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Adhere to instructions received by Production Supervisor regarding the products to be created that shift
  • Communicate with previous shift Forming Operator to ensure all parameters of the machine, the schedule and the set‑up are in line with company standards
  • Complete necessary daily maintenance of the Forming machine followed by required dry run of the machine
  • Successfully complete route operations of the forming machine including machine set‑up, preheating of mold, loading of sheet and product positioning
  • Complete forming process by demolding the part from the machine, with assistance if required.
  • Reinforce corners shells as needed by applying fiberglass
  • Complete work orders and communicate to Lead Hand or Production Supervisor, as required
  • Prepare sub quality shells for granulation and disposal, as required
  • Consistently meet or exceed production targets and quality
  • Take direction from Lead Hand as required
  • Assist maintenance to troubleshoot the forming machine, as required
  • Occasional operation of forklift, if licensed
  • Other duties as required
  • Rotation through various work cells and shifts
  • See PDA for comprehensive list of physical and work environment demands
  • Work rotating afternoon shift
  • Other duties as required
HEALTH & SAFETY
  • Maintain a safe workplace
  • Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
  • Comply with the company policies, procedures, and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)
  • Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required
  • Report unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your Supervisor
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Adhere to and maintain WHMIS 2015 requirements
  • Annual medical surveillance may be required
QUALITY
  • Follow all area work instructions and procedures in order to ensure quality standards are adhered to
  • Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept, Lead Hand and your Supervisor
  • Follow the control of non-conforming product procedure for any defective products found in your area
5S
  • Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards
  • Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately
QUALIFICATION

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • O.S.S.D or equivalent
  • Successful completion of all tests related to the position
