Job summary

Masco Canada is hiring a Forming Operator in St Thomas, ON. This onsite role involves loading, operating, and unloading a vacuum forming machine to create consistent shells, inspecting quality, and performing routine maintenance.

The candidate will rotate through cells and shifts while following safety protocols and OHSA requirements. Responsibilities include mold preheating, sheet loading, part positioning, and reporting any defects to the Lead Hand or Supervisor.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load, operate, and unload the vacuum forming machine to produce shells.
• Inspect parts for quality and report defects to supervision.
• Perform daily machine maintenance and dry runs as directed.
• Assist with mold preheating, sheet loading, and part positioning.
• Demonstrate safe work practices and maintain 5S standards.
• Rotate through work cells and shifts as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

A Forming Operator is responsible for loading, operating, and unloading the vacuum forming machine. The Operator is responsible for producing consistent, high-quality shells by inspecting each product.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Adhere to instructions received by Production Supervisor regarding the products to be created that shift
• Communicate with previous shift Forming Operator to ensure all parameters of the machine, the schedule and the set‑up are in line with company standards
• Complete necessary daily maintenance of the Forming machine followed by required dry run of the machine
• Successfully complete route operations of the forming machine including machine set‑up, preheating of mold, loading of sheet and product positioning
• Complete forming process by demolding the part from the machine, with assistance if required.
• Reinforce corners shells as needed by applying fiberglass
• Complete work orders and communicate to Lead Hand or Production Supervisor, as required
• Prepare sub quality shells for granulation and disposal, as required
• Consistently meet or exceed production targets and quality
• Take direction from Lead Hand as required
• Assist maintenance to troubleshoot the forming machine, as required
• Occasional operation of forklift, if licensed
• Other duties as required
• Rotation through various work cells and shifts

• Work rotating afternoon shift

HEALTH & SAFETY

• Maintain a safe workplace
• Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
• Comply with the company policies, procedures, and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
• Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)
• Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required
• Report unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your Supervisor
• Maintain a clean working environment
• Adhere to and maintain WHMIS 2015 requirements
• Annual medical surveillance may be required

QUALITY

• Follow all area work instructions and procedures in order to ensure quality standards are adhered to
• Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept, Lead Hand and your Supervisor
• Follow the control of non-conforming product procedure for any defective products found in your area
• 5S: Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards
• Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately

QUALIFICATION

• Ability to complete complex problem solving related to vacuum forming processes
• Ability to follow work instructions
• Ability to pull, push, bend and lift (up to 50 lbs and walk 15m-40m)
• Ability to stand up to 10 hours
• Ability to grasp components
• Ability to comprehend the English language
• Ability to work well in a team environment

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• O.S.S.D or equivalent
• Successful completion of all tests related to the position
