Job summary

NFI Industries in Canada is seeking a Seasonal Forklift Operator I to move, stack, and count merchandise in the warehouse. You will operate forklifts, perform order picking, and ensure safety and accuracy across shifts from 2:00pm-10:30pm or 10:00pm-6:30am.

A $1.25/hr shift premium applies, with potential for full-time opportunities. Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, have forklift experience, and can pass the NFI certification.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Preferred 6 months of forklift operation experience.
  • Must qualify and pass NFI forklift certification.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective customer service skills and basic math competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all material handling equipment safely and efficiently, following safety procedures.
  • Possesses basic understanding of equipment safety and adheres to safety protocols.
  • Completes pre-operation inspection forms for equipment.
  • Stacks and stores merchandise using forklift, clamp, or push-pull equipment.
  • Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to storage locations.
  • Pulls and prepares products for shipment per customer requirements.
  • Verifies correct quantity and product type loaded and shipped.
  • Performs order picking in an accurate, timely, customer-focused manner.
  • Moves product from staging or storage into trailers for outbound loads.
  • Maintains documentation to support inventory accuracy and security.
  • Assists with physical inventory counts and cycle counts as directed.
  • Ensures inventory rotation according to company standards.
  • Identifies and reports discrepancies to inventory control.
  • Uses RF scanning devices for inventory management.
  • Reports safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Demonstrates basic Excel and computer proficiency to complete tasks.
  • Performs other duties as required by the role.

Overview

The Seasonal Forklift Operator I is responsible for operating material handling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise within the warehouse. The Operator ensures the safe and efficient use of forklifts and may also perform order filler or order checker duties as needed, while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and adherence to safety procedures.

Shifts needed: Mon-Fri 2:00pm-10:30pm & Mon-Fri 10:00pm-6:30am

Shift Premium: $1.25/hr

Though the position is initially Seasonal, potential exists for Full-Time positions.

Responsibilities
  • Operates all material handling equipment safely and efficiently, following established work practices and safety procedures
  • Possesses basic understanding of equipment safety and adheres to all safety protocols
  • Completes and documents required pre-operation inspection forms for equipment
  • Stacks and stores merchandise in designated areas using forklift, clamp, or push-pull equipment
  • Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to storage locations
  • Pulls and prepares products for shipment in accordance with customer and operational requirements
  • Verifies that the correct quantity and product type are loaded and shipped
  • Performs order picking in an accurate, timely, and customer-service-focused manner
  • Moves product from staging or storage areas into trailers for outbound loads
  • Maintains required documentation and reports to support inventory accuracy and product security
  • Assists with physical inventory counts and periodic cycle counts as directed
  • Ensures inventory is rotated in accordance with company standards
  • Identifies and reports inventory discrepancies to the inventory control team and participates in resolution
  • Uses RF scanning devices to support accurate inventory management
  • Reports safety concerns, hazards, or incidents to management promptly
  • Demonstrates basic Excel skills and general computer proficiency to complete required tasks
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the role and determined by management
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Preferred 6 months of forklift operation experience and/or experience using warehouse distribution equipment
  • Must qualify and pass NFI forklift certification
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective customer service skills and basic math competencies
