Job summary

Metro Supply Chain Group is seeking a Material Handler to join our Mississauga warehouse team. You will perform tasks using RF scanning and material handling equipment to ensure accurate, on-time orders, reporting to the Operations Supervisor.

The role requires SOP adherence, safety focus, and active participation in inventory counts to maintain accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of warehouse processes including receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory control.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to changing processes and business needs.
• Ability to work in a structured environment and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of WMS RF scanners.
• Experience with Red Prairie WMS is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Meet customer agreements focused on productivity, accuracy, and service levels.
• Handle product for receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory control.
• Use material handling equipment and RF technology.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure quality and consistency.
• Complete material handling tasks using RF scanning to minimize manual keying.
• Participate in inventory activities including counts and cycles.
• Move empty pallets to the pallet holding location.
• Keep the warehouse clean, orderly, and free of obstructions.
• Operate equipment in alignment with Health & Safety policies.

SHIFTS

Afternoon: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Evening: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Hourly premium for afternoon and evening shift

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor the Material Handler is responsible for a variety of warehouse tasks using an RF and various material handling equipment. Follows best practice processes to ensure we are efficient, accurate, and provide quality and on-time orders for our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The material handler plays an important role in meeting customer agreements which include productivity, accuracy, and service level.
• Responsible for the handling of product for various operational processes, including receiving, order picking, shipping, and inventory control.
• This role requires the use of material handling equipment and RF technology.
• Follows Standard Operating Procedures to ensure quality and consistency is achieved.
• Completes material handling tasks as presented on the RF, scanning where possible to avoid manual keying.
• Participates in inventory activities including physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
• Moves empty pallets, depositing them at the designated pallet holding location.
• Keeps the warehouse clean, orderly, and free from obstructions, with all debris placed in proper containers or designated areas.
• Operates equipment and completes tasks in a manner consistent with company Health & Safety policies.

EXPERIENCE

• One (1) year warehouse experience, with one year’s operating material handling equipment (MHE) with a proven track record for safety.
• Previous experience with RF based Warehouse Management System (WMS), preferably Red Prairie.

SKILLS

• Knowledge of warehouse processes, including receiving, order picking, shipping, and inventory control.
• Organized and strong attention to detail.
• Able to adapt to change and easily adopt new processes required to meet changing business needs.
• Able to work in a structured environment and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of WMS RF Scanner.
• Experience with Red Prairie WMS an asset.

EDUCATION

• Some high school, completion of secondary school diploma preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS

• One or a combination of the following equipment experience and certification - Double-end Walkie.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Able to commit to a flexible work schedule, includingovertime and weekends when required.
• Works 100% of their time on the warehouse floor,walking, standing, and bending.
• Capable of lifting up to 50lbs repeatedly and safely.
• Recognize that work hours and location may change.
