Job description

Job Title: Forklift Operator

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the loading and unloading of railcars and trailers in a safe and efficient manner. As a Forklift Operator, you will work closely with our Warehouse Supervisor, Lead Hand, Shunt Drivers, Carriers, other Forklift Operators, and operational staff to manage the movement of freight through our warehouse.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Work in accordance with all warehouse procedures and policies.
  • Operate all equipment safely.
  • Unload and load paper products from railcars and trailers.
  • Transfer or unload full/LTL trucks.
  • Document product code numbers for bills of lading on outbound loads.
  • Ensure products are properly packaged for outbound shipments.
  • Assist in load transfers, either with a forklift or manually.
  • Keep track of all product movements within the warehouse.
  • Complete and submit racking/forklift inspection and employee production sheets daily.
  • Maintain general housekeeping.
  • Complete and submit forklift inspection and employee workload sheets or logs to your supervisor.
  • Work on different current customer accounts as needed.
  • Perform other activities as assigned by the Warehouse Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Forklift Operator with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Proficient in basic email, spreadsheet, and computer or tablet use.
Warehouse Environment:

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, walk, bend, perform case picking, and lift up to 50 lbs. Push/pull force up to 17 lbs. The dock and outside areas can be hot or cold, with occasional dust.
