Slegg Building Materials is seeking a motivated Forklift Operator on Vancouver Island. The role involves loading, unloading, and moving building materials within the warehouse while following safety practices and company policies.

The successful candidate will perform inspections, handle orders accurately, and assist with meeting delivery schedules. The position offers growth opportunities and is based at our Sidney location in Canada.

Qualifications

• Requires valid forklift certification (propane).
• Minimum of two years' experience.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics.
• Basic hand tool skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of lift trucks and complete required forms.
• Ensure forklift maintenance and servicing requirements are met.
• Build orders to required specifications for delivery.
• Load and unload building materials in a safe and efficient manner.
• Check load contents for accuracy and secure materials.
• Ensure that all products are shipped on schedule and according to specific instructions by management to meet customer demands.
• Maintain contact with supervisors and work to resolve issues as they arise.
• Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers.
• Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and customer-focused individual for the position of Forklift Operator. The Forklift Operator prepares loads and unloads building materials in the warehouse through the safe operation of a lift truck. Together with other team members, the Forklift Operator works to exceed customer expectations. The wage range is $22 - $26.75 per hour (Tier 1; $22 - $24, Tier 2; $24 - $26.75).
